The legendary Consolidated PBY Catalina was built in other manufacturing facilities besides Consolidated's own plant during WWII and each differing manufacturer gave the 'boat a slightly different type/name designation. One was Canadian-Vickers who called their craft PBV-1 Canso (Canso after the town of the same name in Nova Scotia) 30 being built at Vickers and another 282 at their Cartierville/Canadair plant.

This gallery is dedicated to the Canso A and shows differing images of the (very) few surviving 'boats around the world today.

Spending time at any airshow event is always a great day out, but when you are treated to a flypast by one of the very few flying PBY-5A Canso's in the World, it becomes extra special. These lovely images were taken by our Canadian correspondent, Alex Norton whilst attending the Hamilton Airshow in Ontario, Canada in 2012. Doesn't she look superb!

I have deliberately left these images a large size in-case anyone wants a fine computer desktop screen image. As ever, our grateful thanks goes to Alex for sharing these superb shots with us.

Wish I'd been standing next to him, what a magnificent sight!.
